What it is

Amplicell Female Enhancement is a herbal and multivitamin dietary supplement for adult women, sold as a bottle of 60 capsules. The Supplement Facts panel sets the serving at two capsules and lists 30 servings in the bottle. Each serving combines seven vitamins and minerals with two free-form amino acids, a black pepper fruit extract, and an 802 mg proprietary blend of fourteen botanicals.

The bottle is white with a pink and grey label carrying the Amplicell wordmark, and it ships inside a matching printed carton. Both the bottle and the carton state 60 capsules, and both carry the same Supplement Facts panel.

What's inside

The formula has three distinct parts, and the label discloses them at different levels of detail. The vitamins, minerals and amino acids are itemised with exact amounts. The botanical portion is not — it is declared as a single proprietary blend, so the individual plant amounts are not available to anyone reading the bottle.

Vitamins and minerals. Vitamin A appears as beta carotene at 1,000 IU. The B-complex portion runs through B1 as thiamine mononitrate at 1.25 mg, B3 as niacin at 1 mg, B5 as calcium pantothenate at 2.5 mg, B6 as pyridoxine HCL at 3.8 mg, and B12 as cyanocobalamin at 54 mcg — the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements publishes a general consumer fact sheet on vitamin B12 and its dietary forms. Zinc is present as zinc oxide at 26 mg; background on that mineral is covered in the ODS zinc fact sheet. These are standard supplemental forms, the same ones used across ordinary multivitamins.

Amino acids and the pepper extract. L-arginine and L-tyrosine are listed at 100 mg each. Both are amino acids that occur naturally in dietary protein — arginine in nuts, seeds, dairy and meat, tyrosine in cheese and soy foods among others. BioPerine, at 500 mcg, is a branded standardised extract of black pepper fruit; it is a common inclusion in botanical formulas and is named on the front of the pack alongside the arginine.

The 802 mg botanical blend. Fourteen plants are named, in this order on the panel: Epimedium, Dong Quai (Angelica), Tribulus Terrestris, Catuaba, Gingko biloba, Panax Ginseng, Damiana, Ashwagandha, Ginger, Mucuna Pruriens extract HPLC, Maca root, Muira puama, Sarsaparilla root and Asparagus extract.

Several have long histories well outside the supplement aisle. Dong quai is the root of an Angelica species long used in Chinese herbal practice. Maca is a root crop farmed at high altitude in the Peruvian Andes and eaten as a food there. Ginger is the same rhizome sold as a culinary spice. Mucuna pruriens is the velvet bean, a tropical legume; the "HPLC" on the label refers to the analytical method named for that extract, not to a plant part. Catuaba and muira puama are both Brazilian tree barks, damiana is a shrub native to Central and South America, and sarsaparilla is a climbing vine whose root was once the flavour base of the soft drink of the same name.

Three of the named plants have general fact sheets from the NIH National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, which describe each plant on its own and take no position on any finished product: Asian ginseng, ginkgo and ashwagandha. Note that the panel prints the ginkgo entry as "Gingko biloba"; the transcription below follows the bottle exactly rather than correcting its spelling.

Because the botanical portion is declared as one 802 mg figure, there is no way to say how much epimedium or how much maca a serving contains. Any breakdown of that blend would be guesswork, so none is offered here.

How to use it

A serving is two capsules, and the bottle holds 30 of those servings. That is the whole of what the Supplement Facts panel establishes about quantity, and it is the only figure quoted on this page. Follow the directions printed on the bottle you have in front of you, and do not exceed them.

The capsule shell is vegetable cellulose rather than gelatin, and rice flour is listed as the carrier. If you are already taking a multivitamin, a zinc supplement or a B-complex, it is worth going through this panel with a pharmacist or clinician before adding it, because several figures here already sit above the reference intakes printed in the right-hand column.

Who it's for

This is a women's category supplement for adults 18 and over, and it sits alongside the rest of our supplements for women. The bottle size suits someone who wants a full container rather than a single try: 60 capsules works out to 30 servings, so it is a stocking product rather than a sample.

It is not appropriate for anyone under 18, for anyone who is pregnant or nursing, or for anyone taking prescription medication without speaking to their own clinician first. The label's own % Daily Value column puts zinc at 173% and vitamin B6 at 190% of the reference intake per serving, which is worth raising with a professional if you already supplement either. If you are comparing formats and counts, the wider female enhancement pills category lists the alternatives.

Good to know

  • The side of the label states zero gluten, soy, eggs, dairy, wheat grain, sugar and preservatives.
  • The capsule is a vegetable cellulose shell; the other ingredients are rice flour, vegetable magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide.
  • The botanical portion is a proprietary blend. Individual plant amounts are not disclosed on the label and are not published here.
  • Herbal ingredients can interact with prescription medicines. The NIH keeps plain-language background on individual plants, such as its page on ashwagandha, for anyone who wants to read around a specific botanical before speaking to a clinician.
  • Keep out of reach of children. Adults 18 and over only.

Frequently asked questions

How many capsules are in the bottle?

The bottle holds 60 capsules. The Supplement Facts panel sets a serving at two capsules and lists 30 servings, which is consistent with the 60-capsule count printed on the front of the bottle and on the carton.

Are the individual herb amounts listed anywhere?

No. The fourteen botanicals are declared together as an 802 mg proprietary blend, which is a legal and common way to list a formula. The label names every plant in the blend but assigns no milligram figure to any of them individually.

What is BioPerine?

BioPerine is a trademarked standardised extract of black pepper fruit, listed on this panel at 500 mcg per serving. It appears on the front of the pack alongside L-arginine because both are named ingredients in the formula rather than part of the undisclosed blend.

Is this suitable if I avoid gluten or animal gelatin?

The label prints zero gluten, soy, eggs, dairy, wheat grain, sugar and preservatives on the side panel, and the capsule shell is vegetable cellulose rather than gelatin. Anyone with a diagnosed allergy or coeliac disease should still check the bottle in hand and speak to their own clinician, because packaging is revised from time to time.

Can I take this alongside other supplements?

That is a question for a licensed healthcare professional who knows your history, not one this page can answer. The zinc and vitamin B6 levels here are high relative to general adult reference intakes, so combining this with a multivitamin is specifically worth asking about.

These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Dietary supplement for adults 18 and over. Consult a licensed healthcare professional before use, especially if you have a medical condition, heart concerns, or take prescription medication (including nitrates). Keep out of reach of children.
