- Tribulus terrestris — 2,459 mg. A ground-hugging annual of the caltrop family. Its woody fruit splits into segments carrying spines sharp enough to puncture a bicycle tyre, which is where the plant's other name, puncture vine, comes from.
- Lycopene — 2,280 mg. A carotenoid pigment, and the compound responsible for the red of a ripe tomato. Heat concentrates it instead of destroying it, which is why tomato paste holds more per gram than the fresh fruit does.
- L-arginine — 2,393 mg. An amino acid, one of the standard twenty the body strings together into protein. Some is made internally; the rest arrives on the plate, with pumpkin seeds, peanuts, turkey and dairy among the ordinary sources.
- Damiana leaf — 2,167 mg. Leaf of Turnera diffusa, a low shrub with yellow flowers growing wild through Mexico, southern Texas and the Caribbean. Dried, it has a bitter, faintly fig-like smell, and it has long been taken as a tea.
- Guarana — 2,312 mg. Seed of a climbing Amazonian vine, roasted and milled. Caffeine occurs in it naturally and in quantity — several times what an equal weight of coffee bean holds — which is how it became the base of Brazil's national soft drink.
- Ginkgo — 2,429 mg. Leaf material from Ginkgo biloba, a fan-leaved tree that is the last surviving member of its entire botanical order and appears in the fossil record well before flowering plants do. The NCCIH page on ginkgo gives general background on the plant.
- Maca — 2,245 mg. A brassica, related to radish and turnip, grown for its root on the Peruvian altiplano at altitudes where very little else survives. Harvest is dried, then milled into flour.
- Vitamin B12 — 2,414 mg. Cobalamin, unique among the vitamins in being built around a metal atom — cobalt sits at the centre of the molecule. - Vitamin C — 2,310 mg. Ascorbic acid. Humans are among the few mammals that cannot synthesise it, so all of it has to come from food; citrus gets the credit, but blackcurrants and bell peppers are richer per gram.

- Ginger — 2,267 mg. Zingiber officinale, sold everywhere as “ginger root” though the part used is a rhizome — a thickened underground stem. It is among the oldest spices in continuous international trade.
